Biohacker stack audit

Tracking everything but still tired? 8 reasons your stack is quietly underperforming

Your Oura ring is green, your HRV is climbing, yet the 2pm window still feels flat. It is almost never sleep. It is your stack leaking dose, because most labels are calibrated to a margin, not a clinical study. Here is exactly where it leaks, and how to plug it without adding another bottle.

You optimize sleep, training and macros, and yet by Wednesday afternoon you are still reaching for the third coffee or the second pre-workout. Most of the time it is not your protocol. It is the stack on your kitchen counter, where the labels look like science but the doses, ratios and quality controls are calibrated to fit a margin, not a measurable response. This is the list of what actually moves a needle, and where most stacks fail you without ever saying so.

1

The extract ratio is the whole game, and most labels hide it

A 10:1 Cordyceps means 10kg of raw mushroom was concentrated to 1kg of extract, roughly ten times the active compound per gram. Most stacks list "Cordyceps powder" with no ratio, which is legal but functionally inert. If the ratio is not on the label, assume you are paying for grain-grown mycelium that is mostly starch, and that is true even of many products advertising "1,000mg," because the milligrams are mycelium plus grain, not extract. Daylight prints Cordyceps 1,000mg of dual-extracted fruiting body on the front of the pouch, four to ten times the active dose of a typical mycelium stack, and backs it with a Eurofins certificate of analysis.

2

Lion's Mane only works if both extracts are in the bottle

Hericenones are alcohol-soluble and cross the blood-brain barrier. Erinacines are water-soluble and support nerve growth factor. A water-only extract gives you half the molecule. The trials marketers love to cite used dual-extract at 1000mg a day. Daylight uses dual-extract at the full 1000mg per serving, matching the trial dose. Most competitors run single-solvent and never tell you.

3

NR has more human data than NMN, despite the hype cycle

Both Nicotinamide Riboside and NMN raise NAD+, but the published human RCTs currently favour NR for measurable serum NAD+ at 300mg. NMN may catch up, but the YouTube optimization circuit ran ahead of the human evidence. A standalone NR supplement at clinical dose runs 600 to 900 SEK a month. Daylight includes 300mg per serving inside the pouch.

4

CDP-Choline beats Alpha-GPC for sustained deep work

Both raise acetylcholine. CDP-Choline also raises uridine, which is what gives you the sustained focus window biohackers describe as the wave that does not crash. Alpha-GPC is better for acute power output. For knowledge work, CDP wins on every metric we tracked, and 250mg per serving sits in the clinical dose range used in the focus studies.

5

L-Theanine at 200mg is the dose that flattens the cortisol curve

200mg is the dose that pairs with stimulants in the classic green-tea ratio studies. Most pre-workouts run 100mg, enough to claim it on the label but not enough to blunt the jitter. At 200mg, L-theanine raises alpha-wave activity within 30 to 45 minutes. At 100mg the effect is not statistically significant. In Daylight the theanine pairs with the cacao lift so you get focus without a heart-rate spike.

So far we agree with you?

Half the audit done. If your current stack already fails the first tests, the rest are usually worse. Daylight ships 11 actives at full clinical doses in one no-added-caffeine scoop. Skip the rack and try a pouch instead.

6

Rhodiola only works at the standardized spec

Look for 3% salidroside and 1% rosavins. That is the spec used in every HPA-axis stress trial worth citing. A bulk Rhodiola root powder with no standardization is forest dust. Standardization costs the supplier money, so they advertise it when they have done it. Daylight runs 3% salidroside at 200mg, the lower bound of the trial dose for stress and fatigue endpoints.

7

Proprietary blends are a tax on people who do not read labels

"Proprietary blend 1850mg" tells you nothing. It is a legal mechanism that lets a brand put 30mg of the active you came for and 1800mg of rice flour, and call it the same thing. A 2022 NSF audit of wellness-drink brands found 38% of label claims were overstated by more than 20%. Daylight publishes every active in milligrams on the front of the pouch and on the COA.

8

Cost-per-clinical-dose is the only price metric that matters

Add up standalone Cordyceps 10:1, dual-extract Lion's Mane, NR at 300mg, CDP-Choline, Rhodiola at 3% and L-Theanine at 200mg, all at clinical doses. That rack runs 1,400 to 1,800 SEK a month. Daylight ships the whole stack in one scoop at 489 SEK a month on the 3-month plan, or 549 SEK monthly, or 749 SEK one-time. That is roughly a 65 to 70% cut in cost-per-clinical-dose. The math is the entire reason this product exists.
